2010 Scholarships

(Information may be updated from time to time.)

Scholarships that will be offered to Castro Valley High School senior students this year are:

$20,000 Dr. Mary Jane Stamm Scholarship : for students who excell academically ($5,000/yr for 4 years). Requires supplemental application. See Melanie Small, CVHS Career Center.

$2,500 Castro Valley Rotary Scholarships (2): for students of all skills and interests. Should demonstrate financial need.

$500 Charles Schwab & Co. Scholarship: for business/finance students who have demonstrated leadership and have a GPA of 3.75 or higher, and will be attending a 2 or 4 year college in Fall 2010.

$500 Chuck Fehely Memorial Scholarships (2): for a male & a female student. Varsity letter in one or more sports. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Accepted to a post high-school program (trade school, community college, 2-4 year college).

$500 Dr. Joshua Fong Memorial Scholarships (2): for students of Chinese descent with a GPA between 3.0 and 4.0, who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college in Fall 2010.
$500 Felix Elizalde La Raza Education Fund Scholarships (2): 1 for Latino students interested in mass media or communications. 1 for Latino students demonstrating financial need. Must be accepted to a college or program.

$500 Sampson Realty / PSP Mortgage Scholarship: for students interested in real estate or finance.

$500 Castro Valley Educational Foundation Teaching Scholarship:: for a student interested in a career in teaching, who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher and will be attending a 2 or 4 year college in Fall 2010.

$500 Castro Valley Educational Foundation Science Scholarship: for a student who has a GPA of 3.0 or above, who has demonstrated interest and proficiency in the sciences, and who will attend a 2 or 4-year college in Fall 2010.

$500 Sunrise Rotary Scholarships (2): for well-rounded students of all skills and interests. Should demonstrate financial need.

$500 Clark Matthew Wright Rememberance Scholarship: for a student who exhibits the qualities of Character, Leadership, Academics, Responsibility, Kindness. Minimum GPA 2.5.
$300 Charles Duerig Memorial Scholarship: for students who have shown interest in one of more of the following areas - Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts (Eagle scout a plus); attending Cornell Univeristy; participation in band, cross country, track or tennis; volunteered for environmental causes; majoring in engineering, math or science.
$750 CVISL Scholarship: for students who have a 2.5 or higher GPA and participated in Castro Valley Independent Sports League teams during any 4 seasons. **Requires 1 teacher recommendation in addition to application.
$200 Nursing Scholarship: for a student desiring a career in nursing.
$500 Body By Pam/Kenneth Ey Memorial Scholarship: for students demonstrating a commitment to healthy living. Should show a commitment to good nutritional habits, regular exercise, as well as avoidance of smoking, drinking and drugs.
$200 Don Blackman Memorial Scholarship: For students desiring a career in the machinist, mechanical, or technical trades, who will be attending college, community college or trade school in Fall 2010
$1,000 Sarah Streicher Memorial Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to honor Sarah's love of history and her dream to have become a high school history teacher.  It is the family's wish to commemorate Sarah's commitment to educating our youth by awarding a college scholarship to a CVHS history student who shares Sarah's passion for history, expresses a desire to teach history, and who possesses Sarah's attributes of generosity and love of life.
